Hello. I'm Elisa Karbin— poet, copywriter, educator, and author of the poetry chapbook Snare. I have a Ph.D. in creative writing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I was a James A. Sappenfield fellow and a Tinsley Helton Dissertation fellow. I spent several years as Assistant Professor of English at Marquette University, where I taught creative writing and composition; I now work in the private sector, putting my high-level creative writing and critical thinking skills to work as copywriter and creative problem-solver for diverse clients.

My poems have appeared in Diode, Blackbird, Crazyhorse, Notre Dame Review, Indiana Review, West Branch, and other venues, while my dissertation manuscript, The Auspices, has been a finalist for several nationwide contests, including Milkweed Edition's 2019 Ballard Spahr Prize.
I have three sisters, three cats, and one website— this one. Take a look around and feel free to get in touch. Welcome!
